Preparing and administering Pfizer covid vaccines

In March 2021, amid the Covid-19 pandemic surge, we were given an opportunity to help the Stanislaus community by lending our service as vaccine preparers/administrators for a day at the Stan State gymnasium. I was able to experience both as I worked with RNs. LVNs, and EMTs. The RNs-in-charge taught me the about vaccine storage and the proper way of mixing the vaccine with diluent. During the second half of my shift, I administered the vaccines, along with several other healthcare professionals. It was a blessing to have had a hands-on experience like this early in the nursing program and learn from experienced nurses.

Stanislaus Safe KIds

A group of us participated in the International Walk to School Day in October 2021 sponsored by Safe Kids Stanislaus. We helped the children safely walk from designated locations to Rose Avenue Elementary School. Following the assembly, a program was conducted for kindergarteners and grade-schoolers about bike safety and proper use of helmet and pedestrian safety. The children were attentive and participative, thanks to the collaborative effort of people from different professions: public health nurses, student nurses, firemen, police officers, the school principal, schoolteachers - all of whom made the program such a fun- and learning-filled event.
